ANDREW VOLLER
Andrew is a seasoned lighting designer with over 20 years of experience lighting musicals, plays, dance, opera, concerts and events. He believes that effective lighting is essential in conveying the narrative of a performance, working closely with artists, directors, designers, and producers to achieve this goal. For Andrew, collaboration is the cornerstone of a successful production, and he takes great pleasure in partnering with the creative team to create an engaging experience for the audience.
Andrew’s journey into lighting began at school, following which, he studied Theatre Electrics at Westminster College (formerly Paddington College). In the late 80’s, he took his first steps into the entertainment industry with Vari-Lite, a pioneer in moving light technology, ultimately becoming a skilled moving light programmer collaborating with many inspiring lighting designers including Chris Ellis, Rick Fisher, Hugh Vanstone, Howard Harrison, Al Gurdon, Patrick Woodroffe and Durham Marenghi. As a moving light programmer or associate lighting designer, Andrew has contributed to the creation of unforgettable productions, showcasing his passion and expertise in lighting.
From a young age, Andrew has always had a keen interest in software development, leading Andrew to develop software for use in the entertainment industry.
Andrew created Moving Light Assistant, an application to document the lighting on productions, which has gone on to become one of the leading applications to document the lighting on West End and Broadway productions.
More recently, Andrew has worked as CTO and as a Creative Technologist for Copper Candle, developing solutions for Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Virtual Production using primarily the Unreal game engine.
